PURPOSE:To provide a solid polyelectrolyte fuel cell capable of reducing the collected stress added to an electrolytic film while keeping the high efficiency of the solid polyelectrolyte fuel cell, and reducing the generating frequency of breakage of the electrolytic film by the pressure difference between a fuel gas and an oxidizing agent gas. CONSTITUTION:A cell 1 for solid polyelectrolyte fuel cell has spacers 2A and 2B as space holding means on the outside positions of the respective outer circumferences of a fuel electrode 7A and an oxidizing agent electrode 7B to the cell of a conventional one. The spacer 2A, 2B has a thickness dimension (T3), (T4) thinner by 0.05mm than the thickness dimension of the fuel electrode 7A or oxidizing agent electrode 7B, and is interposed between respective main surfaces of the position not opposed to the fuel electrode 7A or oxidizing agent electrode 7B of the side surface 6Aa, 6Ba on the side opposed to the fuel cell 7 of a separator 6A, 6B and an electrolytic film 7C. |
