PURPOSE:To provide the surface light emission device which has uniform luminance on the surface of a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION:The surface light emission device on which a linear light source 2 is arranged on one side of the light guide plate 1 having a light diffusion and transmission part on its reverse surface has a locus which lets a point (o) provided between the middle and an end of the side where the linear light source 2 is arranged be a starting point, reaches a point (q) on the middle side of the light guide plate 1 from a point (P) provided on the side along with the distance from the linear light source 2, then moves away from the edge along with the distance from the linear light source 2 to reach a point (r) on the edge side from a line that is parallel to the edge and contains the point (o), approaches the edge side along with the distance from the linear light source 2, and ends at a point (s) farther distant from the linear light source 2 than the point (p); and the corner part of the light guide plate 1 on the side where the linear light source 2 is arranged is sectioned with a curved line oqrs which has a locus, passing the middle side of the light guide plate 1 as compared with a straight line op, between the points (o) and (q) and a locus, passing the edge side from a straight line rs, absent between the points (r) and (s) and the light diffusion and transmission part in the area increases in area rate as approaching the vertex (c) of the corner part. |
