PURPOSE:To obtain an optical head capable of producing it in a simple construction, at a low cost and in small-seized. CONSTITUTION:A light beam emitted from a laser light source 1 is converged on the recording surface of a magneto-optical recording medium 4 through a beam splitter 10 and an objective lens 3, a returned light reflected on the magneto-optical recording medium 4 is divided into two light beams whose polarization direction are orthogonally crossed each other by a polarizing beam splitter 9 through the objective lens 3 and the beam splitter 10 and these divided two light beams are received by optical detector 5, 6 respectively. In this optical head, the head is provided with an optical member 2 made by joining two prisms 7, 8 whose planes opposing each other are parallel each other, a joined plane of prisms 7, 8 of the optical member 2 and a plane which is not parallel with the joined plane in the member 2 are constituted to be the polarizing beam splitter 9 and the beam splitter 10 respectively. |
