PURPOSE:To provide the processor which efficiently detects the motion vector of 1/2 picture element precision at the time of motion vector detection in the blocking matching method. CONSTITUTION:This detector consists of a buffer memory 4 where a search area in the reference frame required for motion vector detection is stored, a buffer memory where a block to be subjected to motion vector detection is stored, a picture element interpolating circuit 2 which horizontally and vertically interpolates picture elements in picture data stored in the buffer memory 4, a motion vector detecting circuit 1 which performs block matching between the search area consisting of picture elements after interpolation outputted from the picture element interpolating circuit and picture element data, which is stored in the buffer memory 3 and is in the area to be subjected to motion vector detection, and has a function to output the total sum of absolute values of individual picture elements in block differences from plural candidate vectors, and a minimum value detector 5 which has a function to not only detect a minimum value of the output of this motion vector detecting circuit but also output the value of the candidate vector corresponding to this minimum value as a motion vector. |
