PURPOSE:To divide map information into necessary and unnecessary sectors. CONSTITUTION:A position measuring system 104 detects the present location from a received signal from a GPS receiver 102. Map information is read out of a record medium 103 to perform a drawing processing. At this point. the current position is displayed on the map. A luminance control means 106 emphasizes a road within a specified area and the luminance of character symbols and the backgrounds thereof centered on a path setting route according to an image data from a position measuring system. But the luminance at the part other than the specified area is not emphasized and a display means 105 projects an image thereof.
