An objective of the present invention is to provide an apparatus and a method for avoiding interference which differently designate an uplink and a downlink section for a plurality of beam areas supported by a single base station to overcome uplink and downlink transmission performance degradation caused by inter-beam interference in a time division duplex communication system supporting multiple beams. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus and a method for avoiding interference in a time division duplex communication system supporting multiple beams comprises: an adjacent beam determination unit to determine adjacent beam areas; a transmission section designation unit to independently designate a transmission section for adjacent beams during an identical time section; and a directional beam former to transmit transmission section information to each beam area.
