A welding collar has a heating element (5) which consists of a resistance wire (6) which is arranged on a winding former (3). The ends of the resistance wire are inserted into slots in holding elements which are integrally formed on the winding former (3), a plug contact (15) being pushed onto the inserted resistance wire (6) during insertion into a recess in the holding element (10). By means of the slot which is arranged in the plug contact (15), the resistance wire (6) is cut while at the same time being clamped, as a result of which a firm contact is produced between the resistance wire (6) and the plug contact (15).
