The use as an adhesive of an aqueous dispersion containing a copolymer comprising a) 60 - 95% by weight of a C2-C10-alkyl (meth)acrylate b) 5 - 40% by weight of methyl acrylate c) 0 - 30% by weight of methyl methacrylate d) 0 - 30% by weight of a C8-C12-aromatic vinyl compound e) 0 - 10% by weight of a C1-C10-hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate f) 0 - 5% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated C3-C5 carboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof g) 0 - 20% by weight of further ethylenically unsaturated compounds, vinyl acetate and chlorine-containing compounds being excluded.c
