The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for reducing the content volume of a refuse bin (2) or the like, which can be inserted into the cavity of the bin and secured. The apparatus (1) consists of means which subdivide the content volume into an upper filling region (5) for refuse and a lower hollow region (6). According to the invention, the means consists of a tray-shaped plane (7), which can be secured at various levels in the volume space of the refuse bin (2) in order to vary the filling region (5) intended for the waste.
