In a method for producing film capacitors, first of all a plurality of mother capacitors (3) are wound onto a drum (1), separating (isolating) layers (4) made of plastic films also being wound in between the mother capacitors (3). The ends of the separating layers (4) project over the output winding (2) formed in this way. Prior to separating the individual mother capacitors (3) along the separating layers (4), the projecting regions of the separating layers (4) are brushed off by a pot-type brush (6) having wire bristles (8). The peripheral region (5) of the drum (1) is matched to the width of the output winding (2), with the result that the bristles (8) of the pot-type brush (6) run virtually perpendicularly with respect to the projecting parts of the separating layers (4). <IMAGE>
