Disclosed is a user terminal apparatus. The user terminal apparatus comprises: a communication unit for performing communications with a display apparatus and a server; and a processor for determining whether or not to receive additional information related to context information from a server based on context information of the display apparatus received from the display apparatus, and for transmitting, to the display apparatus, a signal to control a state of the display apparatus based on at least one of either the context information or the additional information. Accordingly, a user can easily figure out recommended content based on the context information of the display apparatus via the user terminal apparatus, and easily watch the recommended content via the display apparatus.
