A device for protecting passenger cars against theft is described in which the supply of fuel to the engine in enabled by means of a code lock. While the key panel of the code lock is located within easy reach of the driver of the motor vehicle, the switching electronics, including a solenoid valve to be installed in the fuel feed line or the fuel feed pump is arranged inaccessibly directly over the fuel tank located near the rear axle so that tampering can be largely prevented.
