The invention relates to a method and a device in a film size press, in which coating material is applied to a film over the surface of rolls 1, which form a size press nip, from whence the coating material is transferred in the nip between the rolls to a paper or cardboard web W, which runs through the nip. The coating material mist that is formed in the nip of the film size press is mechanically collected in the coating process, at least to a substantial degree, by means an installation 20-22 arranged on the outlet side of the roll nip. The said installation advantageously comprises a rotating roll 20, which is arranged on the outlet side of the nip and which is provided with a scraper 21, which scrapes the surface of the roll 20, in order to scrape the coating material that has collected on the surface of the said roll 20 into a collecting channel 22. <IMAGE>
