According to the present invention, a reciprocating compressor comprises: an adjustment hole formed in an internal center of a rear housing where an operation shaft is supported and having threads on an inner circumferential surface; and an adjustment member screwed in the adjustment hole to press a rear end of the operation shaft to a front side, and moving the operation shaft towards the front or rear side dependent on pitches of a screw to adjust a top clearance which is a space between a top dead point of a piston and a valve plate. Since a fixing member whose rotation is restricted by a fixing piece which is inserted into a fixing hole formed on a rear surface of the adjustment hole of the rear housing is combined with the adjustment member, the rotation of the adjustment member is restricted, so damage to the adjustment member and the fixing member is prevented.
