Titanium and vanadium recovery process

A process for the recovery of vanadium from a slag comprising mixing the slag with an alkali metal salt, roasting the mixture in oxygen and adding a leaching liquid eg water to the mixture from which the vanadium is recovered. The slag may be obtained from a vandiferous fitano-magnetite. The alkali metal salt may be Na2, Co3, NaOH, Na2So4 or a mixture thereof.
