A coating compsn. for applying an antistat layer to a support comprises V2O5, at least 0.04 pts. of cellulose nitrate per pt. V2O5, and balance coating vehicle. The V2O5 is present at 0.05-2 (esp. below 0.1) wt.% and the cellulose nitrate at 0.04-40 (esp. 0.04-2) pts.per pt. V2O5. A polymer binder is also present (at up to 5 wt.% based on total compsn. wt.), and is a cellulose ester (esp. cellulose acetate) or a urea-HCHO resin.
