A method and a device for separating by a filter element (20) solid bodies, semisolid bodies and/or viscous substances (42) from a liquid (40a, 40b) forming a liquid flow (43) through a canal (10), the filter element being provided in the canal. The filter element comprises a resilient, porous filter material (26) provided with numerous passages through which the liquid passes. The filter material with accumulated bodies and/or substances is moved to a position outside the liquid flow, in which position the filter material is compressed and bodies and/or substances together with liquid retained in the filter material are removed out of the filter material. After the compression has ceased, the material is moved to a position wherein the liquid once more passes through the filter material for renewed separation and accumulation of bodies and/or substances present in the liquid. |
