PURPOSE:To prevent a fixer releasing agent from adhering both directly and indirectly to a photoreceptor drum and a recording material conveying system or the like by determining, during formation of toner images on both sides of a recording material, whether or not a toner image is on the first side of the recording material. CONSTITUTION:An image detecting device 120 and a fan are disposed on the respective portions of a feeder guide 107, and a recording material P is attracted onto the feeder guide 107 during a double-side image formation mode. In this case, the recording material P with an image formed on its front side is conveyed using a double-side feeder roller 42 with the image formation side up, on which the image has already been recorded, and the recording material reaches an image detecting portion via a feeder roller 105. Then an image detection means 120 determines whether or not an image is formed on the front side of the recording material P; since the image has already been formed, a CPU decides to stop the image formation process, outputting the recording material P onto a feeder output tray 41 along a conveying line. |
