METHOD FOR DETECTING ROLLING FLAW OF STEEL PLATE

PURPOSE:To detect a roll flaw based on the presence position of the peak of added data by storing shade data of a screen for one rotation of a final roll continuously for a plurality of screens and then adding the data in width direction for each picture element in the longitudinal direction of each screen. CONSTITUTION:The image of the surface of a steel plate 1 is picked up for a plurality of screens continuously by a CCD camera 2 for detecting flaw for each length equivalent to one rotation of a final rolling and then image data are stored in an image memory 3. After the image of an entire screen is picked up, filltering treatment is performed for each screen and then the image data in the width direction of a plate are added for each picture element in the longitudinal direction of the plate. It is performed for each screen and the result is added. Only the roll flaw part appears as a peak by addition and a noise part is suppressed by superposing many screens, thus increasing S/N ratio.
