METHOD FOR SUBAREA AUTOMATIC SELECTION FOR PICTURE REGISTRATION

PURPOSE: To provide a method which is used for positioning of images, especially an automatic subarea selection method which improves the positioning between the relative images. CONSTITUTION: An image positioning part 11 includes an indeterminate model 14 and a subarea selection part 15. The model 14 decides the indeterminacy of an important area that is used for positioning of a live image 21, and the part 15 outputs subarea where a reference image is selected. An on-line processing part 12 performs the arithmetic processing based on the image 21. A selected subarea 18 and an extracted subarea 26 undergo the correlation processing through a multi-subarea correlation part 23. The output of the part 23 is given to an image movement part 24 together with the image 21. Then the part 24 positions a current image against the reference image.
