PURPOSE:To make it possible to exactly detect a printed line and to improve reliability even when there are stains on a date column and the printing on a rear page transmits by providing a moving mechanism moving an optical detection mechanism part in the direction perpendicular to the carrier direction of a bankbook. CONSTITUTION:When the printed line printed in a bankbook 14 is detected, an optical detection mechanism part 1 is set to the location of the data column of a normal bankbook 14, and when the bankbook 14 is carried by the driving rollers 8a to 8d of a bankbook carrier mechanism part, the detection of the printed line is performed by scanning the date column. When there are stains on the date column and the printing on a rear page transmits, a carrier 3 on which the optical detection mechanism part 1 is mounted is driven by a driving motor 6 via a carrier belt 7, the carrier is moved in the direction perpendicular to the carrier direction of the bankbook making a carrier guide 4 as a guide and it is stopped at the location of the balance column of the bankbook 14.
