PURPOSE:To accurately measure current flowing into a photoreceptor by causing rotation of the photoreceptor, lighting of a static eliminator lamp, operation of a blower, and operation of an electrostatic charger or a static eliminator almost simultaneously, and measuring the current until grounding is achieved. CONSTITUTION:A conductive collecting brush 14 is brought into sliding contact with the exposed portion of the electrically conductive layer of a photoreceptor 11 and a machine main body is grounded via a conducting wire 36. In this case, the numbers corresponding to corotrons 15, 21, 23, 25 which are desired to measure are input and a start button is pressed; then rotation of the photoreceptor 11, lighting of a static eliminator lamp 27, operation of a blower 31, and a discharge from each corotron are started almost simultaneously in that order. The currents flowing from the corotrons to the photoreceptor 11 are detected, and the outputs of a high voltage power supply which are applied to the corotrons are controlled and thus the currents flowing through the corotrons are adjusted so that a desired current value prestored in a memory 37 is obtained. In this case, the currents flowing into the photoreceptor 11 from the corotrons are read using an ammeter 35. |
