The present invention concerns a device (1) for detecting an obstacle able to collide with a vehicle (100), in particular a pedestrian (P) or a cyclist, and for analysing the nature of said obstacle, with a view, in particular, to triggering a suitable protective measure, comprising: a capacitive sensor (2) reacting to an intrusion into a predefined detection perimeter, and an acquisition and analysis system configured to compare the change in the response of the sensor (2) to reference data concerning the change in the response of the sensor depending on the nature of the obstacle, and to deduce the nature of the obstacle, depending on at least the result of said comparison. |
