COMPUTER SYSTEM WITH ERROR INSPECTION / CORRECTION FUNCTION

PURPOSE: To provide an ECC function having conversion performance between an error correction code(ECC) protocol and a parity protocol, and the interface system of parity. CONSTITUTION: The ECC function dealing with the problem of an interface between a memory and the other constitution elements which possibly execute communication by words constituted of different number of bytes is provided. When a partial writing function in an ECC module is used, read/correction/write operations becomes possible by using a bi-directional system bus 18 to a minimum at high speed without excess constitution elements. It is executed by selecting a code containing the grouping of data bits corresponding to a desired parity system. When an ECC XOR tree 58 is corrected so that parity inspection and error correction decoding can simultaneously be executed, two groups of XOR trees are not required in the interface.
