OPTICAL SOLITON GENERATOR

摘要

PURPOSE: To enable the application of complex wave form in the improved soliton pulsator to be reduced or eliminated by a method wherein the output part having input and output for receiving phase modulated optical signals is provided with an optical pulse compression means for generating a pulse train. CONSTITUTION: The pulsator is provided with a CW laser 11 whose output is fed to an amplitude modulator 12 driven by CW sine sourse. The output from the amplitude modulator 12 is added to a phase modulator 18, which frequency-chips the input pulse and also is driven by the CW sine source for widening optical spectrum width on the pulse line. The output of the phase modulator 18 is connected to a compression fiber having the group rate dispersion characteristics in the operation wavelength for narrowing the pulse width together with the phase modulator 18. In such a constitution, the output can form a pulse train having an wave form in an ideal shape of the soliton transmission in the shape in both time region and frequency region.
