The static circuit breaker contactor according to the invention comprises, per phase, two thyristors (1, 2) of the gate turn-on type, mounted head-to-tail, the opening of each thyristor being triggered as a result of the connection of the trigger (G1, G2) to two previously charged capacitors (C4, C3), a first (C4) of which is taken to a voltage higher than the breakdown voltage of the gate-cathode junction of the thyristor (1, 2), via a voltage multiplier fed by a power supply circuit, while a second (C3) is mounted in series with a voltage-limit device which limits its voltage to a voltage below the said breakdown voltage.
