The shaped tool tip comprises a composite first face (5) consisting of the body (2) made of tungsten carbide and of a composite active part (3), also attached to the body (2) in order to form both the cutting edge and the clearance flank. The active part (3) is also of the composite type and comprises a part made of tungsten carbide and, level with the cutting edge, a part made of material of the polycrystalline-diamond kind. The active part (3) is joined to the body (2), preferably on a perfectly plane surface of a graphite core, by a brazing operation. The active part (3) is cut from a disc (17) consisting of polycrystalline diamond on tungsten carbide.
