PURPOSE:To make it possible to discriminate paper sheets by the sizes, regarding a paper sheets discriminating device. CONSTITUTION:This device is a paper sheets discriminating device reading the images of paper sheets 1 by a sensor 2 and discriminating the classification of paper sheets based on the number of picture elements composing images and is provided with a first discrimination part 3 counting the number of picture elements in the prescribed length direction of paper sheets, deriving the mode and discriminating paper sheets as the paper sheets corresponding to a first region when the number of picture elements of the obtained mode exists in anywhere in the first region provided every paper sheets and a second discrimination part 4 counting all the number of picture elements forming images, comparing all the number of picture elements with a third region provided every paper sheets and discriminating paper sheets as either one of two pairs of paper sheets, when the number of picture elements of the mode exists in a second region where the distribution of the number of picture elements in the prescribed length direction overlap. |
