The invention relates to a measurement instrument such as a travelling clock, comprising a casing (1) enclosing a measurement mechanism (2), the said mechanism (2) having a display device (21) allowing the viewing of the measurement through the casing (1). The casing (1) and the measurement mechanism (2) are coupled together by rotational means (31, 32, 33, 41, 42, 43), the said mechanism (2) having a centre of gravity which is not situated on the axis of rotation of the said mechanism (2), so that the display device (21) is brought back in the normal reading position. <IMAGE>
