PURPOSE:To automatically extract color vectors showing characteristics of reflection by dividing a color space with plural planes and applying a segment which approximates an array of representative points found, area by area. CONSTITUTION:The parallel planes 103 which cross the same straight line 101 at right angles are defined in the color space 106 which has color component values of pixel values of a body area as coordinates so as to divide the color space into the successive areas. Pixels which belong to the divided areas 104 are determined, area by area, and their pixel values are used to find the representative points 105 in the areas. In this case, the distribution 102 of the pixel values is nearly linear to respective component values of P, G, and B, so one representative point can be found for each area or each plane, for example. Then the vectors are determined by finding the straight line which approximates the array of the respective representative points. Even when the pixel values are dispersed from the vectors and distributed, the representative points such as the mean, the center of gravity, etc., of the pixel values are found, so the vectors can be extracted. |
