VACUUM PUMP

A vacuum pump contains a pumping unit (14) connected by a separable connection to a control and supply unit (10). The pumping unit (14) contains a non-volatile memory (20) which receives and retains data concerning the operation of the pumping unit (14) when there is a failure of the current supply. The pumping unit is further provided with its own microcontroller (17) which bidirectionally communicates with the control and supply unit (10) and controls the input and output of data into and out of the memory (20). Data are transmitted between the control and supply unit (10) and the microcontroller (17) with error detection and/or correction. Data transmission is thus more reliable. The microcontroller (17) of the pumping unit (10) continuously monitors the working parameters of the pump.
