<p>A method and a device for performing the method, viz. remove oxide layers, chromium depleted zones and the like in pickling of metal, in the first place stainless steel (1) in the form of plates or strips, which continuously pass through an electrolyte bath. The pickling is performed in an electrochemical way. The steel strip passes through an electrolyte circulating in a closed system, where the electrolyte is circulated at a high speed through two crevices (15, 16) formed between a first electrode (4), chemically resistant to the electrolyte, and the steel (1), respectively between the steel (1) and a second electrode (5), chemically resistant to the electrolyte, while a controllable electrical current is passed from the first electrode (4) through the electrolyte, through the metal (1) present in the electrolyte bath, in the thickness direction of said metal, through the electrolyte and to the second electrode (5).</p> |
