A GAS GENERATOR

A gas generator that comprises a bottle (1) defining a volume (2) containing compressed gas. A housing (4) within the bottle contains a movable element (18). In an initial position the movable element lies adjacent at least one aperture (42) formed in the housing (4), that aperture initially being sealed by a sealing disc (43). The sealing disc (43) is initially supported by the movable element (18) and is held in position by compressed gas within the space (2) when the movable element (18) moves in response to activation of a triggering mechanism (10), the movable element (18) no longer supports the sealing discs (43) which then move to a position in which they no longer close the apertures (42) thus creating a flow path for gas from the space (2) to a reaction zone (15).
