The invention relates to an apparatus for the defined abrasive surface-treatment of bodies, in particular for bodies consisting of specimen materials, for material-analytical tests to be carried out subsequently, with the aim of producing ground surfaces, in particular angular (bevelled) ground surfaces, free from curvature. The object of the invention is to guarantee in a very simple manner that at the very beginning of the grinding process, at the moment of contact of the test specimen, which is to be worked abrasively, with the grinding tool, only one degree of freedom of translation for the material which is to be worked abrasively is allowed. This is acheived in that the body which is to be worked abrasively is connected via a shaped piece which embeds it to a body slidingly fitted in a mounting, and thus only the mounting can be pressed onto the tool immediately at the beginning of the grinding process, with the result that parallelism between end face of the mounting, surface of the test specimen and surface of the tool is provided at the very beginning of the abrasive working process of the test specimen. <IMAGE>
