A test device for non-destructive materials testing comprises a test head (4) with a coupling surface (16) which can be applied to the surface (40) of a test sample (2) in order to transmit electrical or acoustic test signals into the test sample (2). According to the invention, the front surface (32) of a free end of a light guide cable (30) of an endoscope is arranged in the region of this coupling surface for the optical monitoring of the position of the test head (4). It is thus possible to position the test head easily and reliably by remote control even in spatially restricted conditions.
