The invention concerns weldable drawn plastic strip characterized in that it has at least one surface in which are embedded absorptive particles which have a significantly higher absorptive power for electromagnetic radiation in the 10 to 50,000 MHz frequency range than the plastic from which the strip is made. The strip can be welded to itself at the ends through the surface layer containing the absorptive particles. Mats can be produced from cross-laid strips welded together at the crossing points by electromagnetic radiation.
