<p>This invention is a phased array imaging system which includes a normal mode and an adaptive mode of operation. The system comprises a phased array transducer (10) for transmitting ultrasonic pulses, and a master control (18) which regulates the function of the imaging system. The signal processor (20) processes the received ultrasonic signals, and the adaptive processor (16) adjusts the delay associated with each element in the transducer array (10) such that the average image brightness of the region of interest (24) is maximized. The cathode ray oscilloscope (22) displays the output.</p> |
