An integral seat for motor vehicles is proposed. The integral seat comprises a seat part to which is coupled the lower end of a backrest, which belongs to the seat, is essentially upright and can be pivoted between end positions, and includes at least one side-piece which is connected fixedly to the seat part, is arranged next to the pivoting region of the backrest and extends from the seat part to the upper end region of the backrest. A particularly favourable and advantageous design of the seat is achieved if an actuator which is driven by an electric motor and is arranged on the side-piece, engages on the backrest at a distance from its pivoting axis and takes over the pivoting movement of the backrest. <IMAGE>
