A method for sterilizing a liquid consisting of dispersing it, ozonizing and agitating. After that the liquid being sterilized is stirred and simultaneously irradiated with ultraviolet radiation. An apparatus for effecting that method comprising a pipeline (1), the input section (23 of which is provided with an injector (8), the middle section (4) is provided with sources (7) of ultraviolet radiation, and the outlet section (3) is provided with a separtor (11).
