The invention relates to a method and a device for measuring bound <12>C and <13>C proportions in liquid and/or solid media. In order to make it possible greatly to simplify the measurement of such <13>C proportions spectrometrically while retaining a high detection sensitivity, it is proposed according to the invention for the media intended for measurement to be, in a combined procedure, first oxidised in a thermal process with production of the components <12>CO2 and <13>CO2 and for both components to be fed directly into a non-dispersive infrared spectrometer for selective detection of the proportion of <12>CO2 and of <13>CO2. <IMAGE>
