The invention relates to a protective cap for an NH fuse contact having side walls, a rear wall facing away from the NH fuse and a covering wall and having a continuous gap, which is arranged in the front wall and covering wall, for a contact blade of the NH fuse. This protective cap achieves the object of insertion of the contact blade with a relatively low switching force between the contact surfaces of the NH fuse contact such that the contacts are prevented from being welded to the contact blade and destruction of the switching device is prevented, and the formation of arcs is essentially avoided. This object is achieved in that the mutually facing edges, which bound the gap (6) in the covering wall (3), each have a bead (14; 15) in order to form an insertion chute (13), which bead is designed in such a manner, and is arranged overlapping the free ends of the NH fuse contact, that the unobstructed width of the insertion chute (13) is smaller than the thickness of the contact blade in the region of the overlap, and is larger than the thickness of the contact blade in the region of the insertion opening of the contact blade and, in consequence, in such a manner that the insertion chute (13) can be elastically expanded together with the contact surfaces (F). <IMAGE>
