Universal cleaner with biodegradable polymers

The invention relates to the use of formulations for universal cleaners for hard surfaces. The formulation contains (a) 1 to 40% by weight of surfactants, (b) 0.1 to 25% by weight of readily biodegradable copolymers of A. monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids and/or salts thereof, B. monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids and/or salts thereof, C. monoethylenically unsaturated monomers which, after polymerization and hydrolysis, afford monomer units which have one or more hydroxyl groups on the carbon chain, and D. where appropriate up to 15 per cent by weight of other monomers which can undergo free-radical copolymerisation, (c) 0 to 20% by weight of acids or alkalis and (d) further additives to make up to 100% by weight. These formulations are distinguished by good biodegradability.
