Thermally insulated heating device

An electrical heating device, which may be flat (see Fig.5) or a wraparound device for the feed barrel of a plastics injection molding machine, comprises an electrical heating element 10, a layer of thermally insulating material 14 disposed against one side of the electrical heating element 10, and a cover 12, 16 enclosing the electrical heating element and the thermally insulating layer 14, the cover including a sheet of heat-resistant material 12 disposed over the opposite side of the electrical heating element 10. The device may also include a current sensor 52 and a light emitter 54.
