PURPOSE:To enable the mass production of a fine particulate compound carbide, containing uniform particles and sufficiently converted into a solid solution at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:Tungsten oxide powder, TiO2 powder and carbon powder or tungsten oxide powder, TiO2 powder, carbon powder and at least one of group IVa oxide powder, group Va oxide powder and group VIa oxide powder are mixed and formed into a pellet with a binder to provide a pellet material, which is then treated in a nitrogen gas stream at 1450-1600 deg.C temperature using a rotary furnace to afford a primarily treated material. The resultant primarily treated material is then treated at 1750-1900 deg.C temperature in a vacuum. |
