PURPOSE:To efficiently decompose wastes by making novel Pseudomonas sp. 2665 strain capable of assimilatively decomposing polycaprolactone, or an enzyme secreted therefrom act on polycaprolactone-contg. wastes. CONSTITUTION:The soil collected in the yard of the Hasaki Research Center, Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd., Kashima County, Ibaragi Prefecture, Japan, is suspended in sterilized water and agitated thoroughly; the resultant suspension is left at rest. One drip of the supernatant of the suspension is added to a separatory medium having polycaprolactone films and cultured at 30 deg.C for 5 to 7 days. One drip of the resultant culture fluid is then added to a basal medium having polycaprolactone films followed by making a culture under the same conditions as the above, and, from the colonies produced, new Pseudomonas sp. 2665 strain (FERM P-13407) capable of degradatively assimilating polycaprolactone can be obtained. This strain or an enzyme secreted therefrom is then made to act on polycaprolactone-contg. wastes to efficiently decompose them in their landfill or composting operation. |
