<p>PURPOSE:To provide a process for producing a phenol resin whereby sampling accompanied by the interruption of operation, such as the stop of agitation or the break of vacuum, can be dispensed with, the conditions in the system can be grasped within a short time, and the control of the progress of reaction and the concentration or dilution can be precisely performed. CONSTITUTION:This production process comprises providing near-infrared irradiation and reception sections in the reactor, connecting them to a near-infrared spectroscopic analyzer through an optical fiber, communicating the analyzer with a process computer, measuring the amounts of the components in the system on the basis of the near-infrared absorbances, and determining the extent of progress of reaction and the concentration or dilution from the physical quantities. Thus, the time necessary for measuring the monomer concentration in the reactional system, the extent of progress of reaction, and the concentration or dilution can be shortened. Operations, such as weighing and titration, apt to produce and artificial error, can be dispensed with, and therefore the precision of measurement can be improved. Accurate and prompt reaction control is possible, and therefore the quality of the phenol resin can be improved.</p> |
