Optical interrogation and identification system, in which a device (MA) is capable of emitting coded optical information and of receiving it. A device (ES) possesses a detector (8) which is sensitive to a wavelength, and controls the operation of a masking device (7) so as to allow reflection of the light by the catadioptric device (4). Moreover, an electronic control circuit (10) is capable of allowing modulation of the reflected beam by the use of a shutter device (5).
