The invention concerns a method for control of loads of a roll with controllable bending, said roll 1 containing a stationary roll shaft 3, around which a rotatable roll surface 2 is arranged. A nip is formed with the roll 1 together with a counter roll 6, in which bending of the roll surface 3 and/or linear loads of the nip is/are controlled with hydraulic loading elements 10, 10a, 10b, 10c, which are supported against the roll shaft 3 and acts in the direction of the nip plane on the inner surface 4 of the roll surface, said loading elements being loaded toward the inside surface 4 of the roll surface by means of pressurized oil with a controllable pressure that is fed to the mentioned loading elements. Hydraulic loading elements 10, 10a, 10b, 10c of the roll are loaded with a load directed opposite the loading direction of the loading elements in the direction of the nip plane so that in order to create the desired loading pressure, the pressure of the pressurized oil that loads the hydraulic loading elements 10, 10a, 10b, 10c is increased in the roll nip N to a level dictated by the counterdirected force created by loading elements 10, 10a, 10b, 10c and by the desired linear load. <IMAGE>
