The invention relates to a replacement treatment with which the aging process in men is slowed down. Various oestrogen-dependent pathological manifestations and age-related erectile disturbances of potency are prevented with a composition by preventive treatment or, if they have already occurred, alleviated or eliminated. For this purpose, natural oestrogens are administered. Oestradiol valerate, conjugated oestrogens or 17 beta -oestradiol are used in particular. The amount of active substance administered is from 0.15 to 2 mg per day.
