The invention relates to a method for adjusting the passage of light through glass panes and a device for carrying out the method. In order to adjust the passage of light, panes are coated according to the invention with a paint which can be washed off, the coating being applied for example over the entire surface or only in strips or in the form of a chessboard. This avoids the disadvantages of sunshades like films, window shades (blinds) or sheets.
